bksbLIVE 2 Update: A Guide to Triggers

bksbLIVE 2 Update: A Guide to Triggers

We have released an update to bksbLIVE 2 called TRIGGERS.

Under Admin Settings/Admin Dashboard, you will find ‘triggers’.  A trigger is something that is applied to a group of learners and is actioned when a learner (of that group) completes a part of their course or perhaps achieves a certain level.

Examples might be:

  • When a learner has completed the English Initial Assessment, pause the English course for the learner.
  • If the learner achieves Entry 3 in the English Initial Assessment, move the learner up a level to the Level 1 English Diagnostic Assessment.

1

2

On the next screen, enter a trigger name and description explaining what the trigger is designed to do.

3

After selecting CREATE TRIGGER, you are taken to another screen to complete the configuration process.

4

Select a group.

5

Select a trigger type and a condition. The type should be already set from set 6 but can be changed on this screen if necessary.

6

The condition can be if something has been completed, or a level has been achieved, or if another subject’s IAs has been completed.

7

8

APPLYING MORE THAN ONE CONDITION
You can apply more than one condition if necessary.
For example below you can see two conditions have been set.

Note that you will need to set the button ‘All conditions required
to YES if you want BOTH conditions to apply.

EXAMPLE
An example of a situation where you might want more than one trigger
might be in a college. You might want the learner to take both the
English IA and Maths IA before they can continue with their studies.

Without triggers, the learner could take the English IA then start
the English DA without even looking at maths!

With triggers, you can say ‘if the learner has completed the
English IA and Maths IA, resume their English course.

10

Next, you set the action required when all conditions are met. Select the ADD/CHANGE ACTION button.

11

12

13

The system keeps a log of the creator’s name and the creation date/modification date.

14

15

If you have not configured the trigger correctly, a message will explain which step requires attention.

16

If you have correctly configured the trigger, you will see this message.

17

Once the trigger is configured, select the button to ENABLE the trigger.

A NEW TRIGGER ONLY APPLIES TO LEARNER ACTIVITIES THAT ARE COMPLETED AFTER
THE TRIGGER WAS CREATED.

If the trigger is later deleted, any action the trigger took will remain, e.g. if a trigger caused a learners
DA to be moved up a level, they will remain on that level even if the trigger is deleted.

18

A TUTOR can only view triggers created (by selecting MORE then TRIGGERS).

Tutors are not able to edit or amend a trigger.

19

NOTE THAT THE ADD TRIGGER AND CONFIGURE BUTTON WILL ONLY APPEAR IF YOU HAVE ADMIN PERMISSIONS.
